Ishpeming – William "Bill" David Waters, age 60, of 748 Elliott Ave. Ishpeming passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at his home of an apparent heart attack.

Bill was born June 1, 1954 in Ishpeming, Michigan to Robert and Lois (Glandville) Waters. He was a 1972 graduate of Ishpeming High School and attended Northern Michigan University. He was a hardworking man, employed by the Marquette Branch Prison for 25 years, retiring in 2010 as a Lieutenant.

Bill was an avid sports fan who loved cheering for his favorite teams, the Tigers, Packers, Redwings, and Hematites. He could always be counted on to coach his kid's teams throughout the years. Whether it was youth football, softball, baseball, or basketball, he was always there. He was very involved with Ishpeming Little League serving as a coach, board member, and president. Bill would spend countless nights working on the little league fields with his wife Coleen. He enjoyed following his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to their sporting events through the years and cheering on his son Brad as an assistant coach for the Ishpeming Hematites with his proudest moment of watching them play at Ford Field and winning back-to-back State Championships. He also enjoyed playing cribbage in the Negaunee Cribbage League, taking his annual fishing trip with friends, golfing, and one of Bill's favorite things was to take his three daily walks in the woods with his dog Baxter.

Bill and his family enjoyed taking many vacations throughout the years. Some of his favorites being New York City, Washington D.C., Disney World, Mexico, Jamaica and countless trips to New York to visit his eldest daughter and grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Coleen and their four children. Sarah (Roger) Riutta of Gouverneur, NY, Rebecca (Mark) Korpi of Ishpeming, MI, Robert W. Waters of Chicago, IL, and Bradley Waters of Ishpeming, MI. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren Abigail, Elizabeth, William, Emma, & Evelyn Riutta, Hattie Korpi. Also surviving, his father, Robert E. Waters of Ishpeming and brothers, Brian (Linda) Waters, Robert G. Waters, and Steve (Lori) Waters. Brother-in-law, Owen (Claire) Carter. Nieces and nephews, Jason Carter, Clif (Bridget) Carter, Jamie Carter, May Waters, and great-nephew Ace Carter. Bill will be sadly missed by his canine buddy, Baxter. Also survived by close family friends, Bill & Julie Stream, and Kurt & Laura Rundman and their families. He was welcomed into Heaven by his mother, Lois, his mother and father-in-law, Clifton and Gloria Carter, and his good friend Allan Blewett.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 3:30pm – 6:30pm on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Wesley United Methodist Church where Members of the Michigan Department of Corrections will serve as Honor Guard. Funeral services will follow at 6:30pm on Sunday at the Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.J. Mannschreck to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service in the church hall.

The pallbearers will be Eric & Christopher Stream, Matt Waters, Jake Dault, Kyle Rundman, Clif Carter, Matt Barron, & Justin Harju.
