Ishpeming – William J. "Bill" Goldsworthy, age 53 of 833 N. Main St. Ishpeming passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012 at the Marquette General Hospital where he had been admitted earlier that day.
Bill was born on June 17, 1958 to William & Eleanor (Miljour) Goldsworthy. Bill graduated from Westwood High School, class of 1976 and received an Associate Degree from Northern Michigan University. He served his country in the United States Navy. Bill worked as an electrician for Cleveland Cliffs for 17 years at the Empire and Tilden Mines.
Bill was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, the Tilden Twp Club and Riverside Club. Bill enjoyed playing cribbage, pool, golf and time spent coaching his boys in Little League. Bill was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Bill enjoyed time spent at camp, especially sitting around a camp fire with family and friends.
Bill will be missed by his wife, Carrie (Swanson) Goldsworthy, whom he married on August 10, 1985, his two sons: Andy & Alex Goldsworthy both of Ishpeming a sister, Ann (Michael) Filizetti, four brothers: Ken (Patricia) Goldsworthy, George (Beverlee) Goldsworthy, Lee (Suzanne) Goldsworthy all of Ishpeming and Tom Goldsworthy of Corpus Christi, TX, nieces and nephews: Michael, Ricky, Donny, Brian, Joshua and Tracy Goldsworthy, Christine Schwenke, Karen Jandreau, Carissa Magnuson, Craig & Jason Filizetti, Chelsea Weaver and Derek Deleon, 3 aunts: Margaret Larson, and Helen Miljour of Suomi location and Sister Helen Miljour, father in law Ted Swanson, & sister in law and brother in law Liz & "Rusty" Aho. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William & Eleanor, a brother Michael Goldsworthy and a nephew Ryan Filizetti.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday June 1st starting at 10:00am at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm with Rev. Warren Geier officiating.
The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 380 will conduct Military Honors at the conclusion of the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill's nieces and nephews.
