Obituary

Ely Twp- William "Bill" H. Brewer, age 48 of 33980 Co. Rd. 581 Ishpeming (Green Creek Location) passed away Monday July 18, 2016 following injuries sustained in an airplane accident.

Bill was born December 4, 1967 in Ishpeming to Claire (Hout) and the late George W. Brewer. Bill was a 1987 graduate of Westwood High School. He was currently employed at Cliffs Natural Resources where he worked as heavy equipment mechanic and planner.

Bill had many hobbies, most of which included tinkering or fixing things. He had a liking for older vehicles including his Ford military jeep and his Ford Coupe. Bill was an ASE certified mechanic and had a vast knowledge to build or repair anything. He served on the Ely Township Planning Commission. Bill had a private pilot's license and was a member of the Local Chapter 850 of the EAA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially training beagles and was a member of the Ishpeming Beagle Club during his childhood. Bill was a proud father and enjoyed watching his children's achievements in their activities. He also enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp and the Dead River Basin with family and friends.

Bill is survived by his wife Lori (Hamel) Brewer, whom he married on July 8, 1995, 2 children: Ciara & Austin Brewer, his mother: Claire Brewer of Gwinn, half brothers: David Brewer of Florida and George Brewer of Texas, nephews: Seth & Nathan Brewer, Travis (Shaly) & Jared Guizzetti, mother in law Kathryn Hamel of Champion, brother in law Gary (Diane) Hamel of Champion, sisters in law Rose (Bob) Saxwold, Sandra (Paul) Guizzetti of Tucson, AZ, Bonnie Brewer of Ishpeming, an uncle Sam Hout of Rapid City, SD, along with numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father George W. Brewer, a brother Steve Brewer and father in law David Hamel.


Bill's family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 12:00 noon until 3:00pm at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where funeral services will be held at 3:00pm with Pastor David Johnson officiating from Faith Lutheran Church where Bill was a member.

A luncheon will follow the service in the fellowship hall at Bethel Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers include Jason Brown, Charlie Kroon, Tony Tonge, Jeremy Harvala, Al Carne and nephews Seth and Nathan Brewer.
