March 1, 1948 – May 20, 2026
Ishpeming- William “Bill” Edward Eman, Sr., age 78, passed away on Wednesday May 20, 2026 at the DJ Jacobetti MI Veterans facility while in the loving care of his family, facility staff, and Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.
Bill was born on March 1, 1948 in Ishpeming, son of the late Robert and Ruth (Lloyd) Eman.
Bill was a proud veteran, serving in the US Marine Corps from April of 1966 until his honorable discharge in January of 1969 where he was a recipient of a purple heart earned during his service in Vietnam.
Bill worked for many years locally for Cleveland Cliffs, retiring at the age of 55.
Bill loved spending time with family and friends at his deer camp “Camp 35”, playing cards, especially cribbage. He was a very proud papa and adored all of his grandchildren.
Bill was a giving man, and will be fondly remembered for both his stubbornness and his sense of humor, he loved to poke fun or make light of a situation with a witty or smart remark. He was very social, and in his last years was known in the neighborhood as the staple sitting on his porch and waving to all those who passed by.
Bill is survived by his siblings: John (Janice) Eman, Patrick Eman, Annette (Pete), Memory (Joseph) Snell, Mary Wick, and Debra (Mark) Anderson, 5 Children: Cory Eman, Bill Eman Jr., Rick (Shannon Hancock) Lawson Jr., Rachel (Ryan) Scott, Rebecca Lawson, 11 Grandchildren: Keighan, Kade, and Karson Scott, Braelynn and Nevaeh Lawson, Henry, Alice, and Rory Hancock, Caleb, Julian, and Hudson Frisk, along with many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Robert (“Mike”), and Frederick Eman, sister: Marilyn Tasson, wife: Dorothy (McEachern), and sister-in-law: Arlene Thexton.
Honoring Bill’s wishes, there will be no public service.
