Tilden Twp- William W. "Hoot" Aho, age 88 of 1800 Co. Rd. PPV Ishpeming (Tilden Twp.) passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Bell Hospital emergency room surrounded by his family.
Bill was born June 17, 1924 in Ishpeming to Elias William & Myrtle (Lampshire) Aho. Bill worked for Cleveland Cliff Mining Company starting at the Mather A Mine and retiring as a mechanic from the Republic Mine. Bill served as Tilden Township Supervisor for 12 years.
Bill enjoyed spending time at camp, hunting and fishing. Bill owned a swap shop and ran an auction house in his younger years and enjoyed collecting scrap iron and other collectables. He also enjoyed his many hound dogs over the years and trips to the casino with his wife Jane.
Bill is survived by 10 children: Gail (Ron) Santamore of Trenton, FL, Bill (Karen) Aho of Ishpeming, Susan (Terry) Jandron of Ishpeming, Dennis Aho of Negaunee, Rita (Dan) Niemisto of Ishpeming, Gerald (June) Aho of Goose Creek, SC, Debra (Robert) Annala of Ishpeming, Roberta (Terry) Annala of Vicksburg, MI, George Aho of Ishpeming and Candace (Richard) Palm of Gwinn, 31 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jane, a brother Russell Aho, a sister Lillian Ayotte, a son Robert Ayotte and grandson Curtis Argall.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 22nd at the Tilden Township Hall from 3:00-6:00pm.
