Vivian Irene Maki, 88, of 135 Stoneville Rd., Ishpeming Township passed away June 22, 2016 at Eastwood Nursing Home, under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice. She had been an Eastwood resident for the past year and a half.
Vivian was born August 5, 1927 in Rock River Township, the daughter of Emil and Hilja (Hogan) Ihamaki.
She lived and worked in the Munising area until 1947 when she moved to Ishpeming and met the love of her life, Carl R. Maki. Vivian and Carl were married on December 6, 1947 and made their home in Ishpeming Township.
Vivian was a homemaker who welcomed everyone to her table. She could always manage to set out a banquet at a minutes notice, and was known for her delicious pasties and apple pies.
Besides her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Carl R. Maki; a son, Blair Charles Maki; sister and brother in law, Mirian and Urho Pokela; sister, Norma Salmi and brother in law Victor Elavsky; sister in law and brother in law, Aile and Dates Maki; sister in law, Lillian Peterson, sister in law, Edna Maki and brother in law, Charles Maki.
She is survived by her sons, Carl M. (Verna) Maki, Ishpeming and Terry (Dianne) Maki, Memphis, MI; daughter in law, Theresa Maki, Ishpeming; sisters, Gladys (Ed) Keto, Ann (George) Balko and Arlene Elavsky; brother, Richard Ihamaki; sister in law Marjorie Duncan; 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Maki family wishes to thank Eastwood Nursing Home and U.P. Home Health and Hospice, along with Dr. Carlson for the wonderful care they took of Vivian.
Vivian's family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 10:00 until 11:00 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 11:00 with Pastor Lauri Maki officiating.
