Ishpeming, MI - Violet B. Lupton, 79, of 249 Davis St. Ishpeming, passed away at 4:39pm on Sunday, March 25th, 2007 the Bell Hospital in Ishpeming.

Violet was born in Ishpeming on November 9, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles and Aini (Mantynen) Ruohomaki. She attended Ishpeming High School, and was a graduate of N.M.U., graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Child Psychology / Speech in 1979. Violet spent most of her life caring for her family as a homemaker but had also worked at Aunty's Restaurant, the Lunch Counter at J.J. Newberry's and as a sales clerk at Vern's Apparel all in Ishpeming.

Violet was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking, with Sunday family breakfast at grandma's as a favorite. Violet enjoyed gardening and was known to have a "green thumb". She always had time for her family and friends and was full of energy. She loved to knit, along with any shopping trips, or just going for a walk.

Survivors include her husband of the past 34 years, John Lupton of Ishpeming; 2 daughters - Judy (Bob Anderson) Steede of Ishpeming and Carol Roberts of Ishpeming; a son Larry (Lisa) Roberts of Ishpeming; a sister Vera Rose of Ishpeming; a brother Waino (Helen) Ruohomaki of Ishpeming; 6 Grandchildren - Tina Anderson, Jeff Steede, Ralph Roberts and his fiancée Amber O'Neill, Jennifer (Joe) Cieslinski, Bethany Roberts, and James Roberts; a great granddaughter - Alyssa Anderson along with a soon to be expected great granddaughter Ansley Elizabeth Cieslinski; 4 sisters-in-law – Anita Ruohomaki of Iron Mountain, Jean Ruohomaki of Ishpeming, Dorothy Ruohomaki of Las Vegas, NV, and Elsie Ruohomaki of South Range; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband Melvin Lowell Roberts, who was killed in a mining accident in 1969, a son Kenneth Roberts, 2 sisters and 8 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 28th, 2007 with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of services at Bethel Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Steede, Ralph Roberts, James Roberts, Leslie Ruohomaki, Bob Anderson, Paul Ruohomaki, Neil Oysti and Joe Cieslinski.
