Michigamme, MI- Violet Inez Krummi, age 87, entered Heaven's gates on April 26 th , 2020, where she was reunited with her husband, George.
She was born to the late Albert and Florence (Gretzon) Kostrova on February 19 th , 1933 in Pound, Wisconsin. She was the eldest of three sisters.
After graduating from Michigamme High School, she married the late George Krummi in July 1954. Together they shared 54 years of marriage and raised five children.
Violet worked for many years as a cook for the Michigamme School, and for the Mt. Shasta restaurant. She enjoyed playing cribbage, watching baseball and basketball games, and loved a good polka. Violet loved to travel, and never passed up an opportunity to take a trip whenever a reason arose. She was a skilled homemaker, spending many hours canning and making a variety of jams and pies with the fruits and vegetables freshly picked by the family. Violet had a great talent for creating beautiful pieces of knitted and crocheted handwork. Countless hours were passed creating heartfelt gifts for family and friends; slippers (always just in time for winter), baby sets, doilies, and afghans were some of her favorite projects.
Family and friends were very important to Violet; anyone was welcome at any time to sit in her kitchen and visit over a cup of coffee (which was never too strong, mind you). She was a woman of great compassion and was always willing to help anyone in any way she could. And had you ever found yourself in need of a cough drop or a kleenex, you couldn't have been in better company.
Violet is survived by five children: Donald (Janice) Krummi, of Palmer, AK; Georgia Martin, of Michigamme; Ronald (Michele) Krummi, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Denise (Cleo) Latimer, of Michigamme; and Terri (Stan) Starr, of Michigamme; as well as two sisters: Deloris Bentti, of Michigamme; and Marilyn (Stuart) Laitinen, of Champion. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, each of whom were very dear to her heart, and of whom she was very proud.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Eastwood Nursing Center for their caring compassion, you are all truly angels.
Honoring Violet's wishes, no formal service will be held; plans for a graveside service will be shared at a future date.
If roses grow in Heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.
And tell her she will always live
in the hearts of those she touched,
for nothing loved is ever lost
and she was loved so much.
