Ishpeming – Violet "Vi" H. LaMere, age 87, of 205 Prospect St., Ishpeming, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had been a resident for the past four months.
Vi was born July 3, 1927 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late Theodore and Helen (Arvola) Walline. She was a lifelong Ishpeming area resident and had worked briefly at the H.W. Gossard Co. and Woolworth's store in Ishpeming. Vi married Herbert C. LaMere and together they raised 6 children, she as a homemaker.
Through the years Vi was an avid supporter of her husband's musical talents and followed the many bands that Herb had played with. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and ceramics along with going on walks especially when it involved stopping for coffee. She had been a member of the Christian Women's Club.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Herbert C. LaMere of Ishpeming, 5 sons – Wayne H. (Debra), Terry C. (Kathie), Kim A, (Kandy), Todd B., and Rodney S. (Julie) LaMere all of Ishpeming, 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Pamela Palm in 1981.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 1:00pm on Monday with the Rev. D. Michael Carriere to officiate. Interment will take placed at the Negaunee Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the 300 wing at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility for their care and compassion shown to Vi and her family during her stay.
