Ishpeming – Violet Coty, age 99, longtime Ishpeming area resident, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Marquette General Hospital. Violet had been a resident of the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility for the past 5 weeks.
Violet was born October 31, 1914 in National Mine the daughter of the late William and Jessie (Brown) Dymond. She attended the National Mine School. Violet had worked for Collick & Stevens Laundry and later for the Ecklund's Laundry prior to her marriage to Henry George Coty. She was a lifelong area resident other than the past few years that she spent with her daughter Sandra.
Violet was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming. She enjoyed playing BINGO and trips to the area casino's.
Survivors include two daughters – Bonnie J. (Joan Verheyden) Nelson of Ishpeming and Sandra K. (Kenneth Pringle) Nelson of Gladstone; a brother William Dymond of Ishpeming, sisters – Pearl Balzarini of Negaunee and Luella Greet of Marquette; grandchildren – Rene' (Marc) Himes, Jacqueline (Percy) Dales, Bradley Nelson, Kim (Gail) Nelson, Brandi Nelson, Trudy (Alvin) Chambers; great grandchildren – Amy (Brandon) Boesl, Eric (Natalie) Dawe, Talia (Todd) Wunder, Braiden Nelson, Justin Chambers and Jordan Chambers; great great grandchildren – Alan, Owen, Libby and Aubrey Boesl, Jax Dawe and Hunter Wunder; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her husband Henry G. Coty in 2000, grandson James J. Nelson, great grandson Andrew J. Dawe, sisters – Florence Lawrence, Annie Flack, Jessie Ellis, Margaret Emanuelson, Dorothy Maki, Adeline Cote and Maude Trudell; and brothers Roy and Kenneth Dymond.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9 – 11am on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Dan Moll to officiate. Inurmnent will take place at the Negaunee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marc Himes, Brandon Boesl, Bradley Nelson, Al, Justin & Jordan Chambers.
