Ishpeming- Violet A. Bess, age 90 formerly of 1008 N. Third St. Ishpeming, passed away Wednesday December 31, 2014 at the Eastwood Nursing Center where she has been a resident since 2010.

Violet was born January 23, 1924 in Negaunee to Robert & Mary (Larsen) Smith. Violet was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church where she served on the Alter Guild and involved every year with the Christmas Bazaar. She enjoyed sewing, picking blueberries, baking and attending her grandchlidren's events.

Violet is survived by a daughter & son in law Patti (Bess) & Eugene Larsen of Marquette, 5 grandsons: Allan, Jeff, Gardener R. (Carrie) Jr., David Jr (Kellie Clark) and Robert (fiancee Janelle Turino) Bess, 3 granddaughters: Linda Kane, Cheryl Bess and Nicole Bess, 10 great grandchildren: Jessica (Trevor) Morrison, Melanee, Erica, Jeffrey, Gardner III, Russell, Heather, Chelsea, Olivia and Hadley, a great great granddaughter, two special nieces: Pat Gravedoni and Linda Roberts, along with other nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gardner L. Bess, sons: Gardner R. & David Bess, a brother and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Grace Episcopal Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Phyllis DeWitt officiating. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Violet's family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday at Grace Episcopal Church from 1:00pm until the time of service at 2:00pm.

A dessert social will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Pallbearers will be Violet's grandsons.
