Ishpeming Twp., MI – Vanda Jean (Nault) Kauppila, age 79, of 1610 N. Westwood Circle, Ishpeming Twp., passed away on Thursday May 18, 2023, at her home, while in the loving care of her family.

Vanda was born in Ishpeming, MI on May 14, 1944, a daughter of the late Ruth Vanda (Schjonberg) and Edmund Joseph Nault. She was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, Class of 1962.  Vanda worked for over 25 years at the Country Kitchen Restaurant in Ishpeming, and prior to that at the Ishpeming Elks Club. She was also an enthusiastic member of CrossFit 906. Gifting was her love language, and her favorite recipients were her "littles." Vanda was a talented quilter, seamstress, crocheter, and crafter.

Surviving her are her husband of 57 years Raymond, daughters Lisa (Brian) Duke, Susan (John) Burke, son, Erik (Beth) Kauppila, 7 grandchildren, Cassie (Adam) Sundberg, Derrick (Danielle) Burke, Brent (Amanda) Burke, Lauren Duke, Braden Duke, Reese Kauppila, Berkley Kauppila, and 8 great-grandchildren, Tessa, Lydia Talen, Ansley, Callie, Jack, Kasen, and Luka, also surviving are her brothers Joseph (Jennifer Branker) Nault, Peter (Ann) Nault, Sr, and Stephen (Debbie) Nault, brother-in-law Steven (Bonnie) Kauppila, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Vanda was preceded in death by her parents along with a brother-in-law and sister-in-law - James and Renate Kauppila.

Private funeral services were held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, for family and close friends.  Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
