Diorite Loc. – Toini M. Ogea, age 89, former Diorite Location resident passed away on Wednesday October 31, 2007 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had resided for the past 5 years.


Toini was born May 1, 1918 in Dexter (Ely Twp.), MI the daughter of the late Gust and Laimi (Huikku) Paavola and was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1936. Toini was a homemaker, raising her five children with the husband Raymond. She and her husband enjoyed fishing trips out on Lake Superior, along with traveling and playing cards.


Survivors include four children – Bryan (Lois) Ogea of Champion, Raymond (Sharon) Ogea of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Paul (Linda) Ogea of Negaunee and Karen (David) Edelschick of Manassas, VA, a brother – Nels (Betty) Paavola of Diorite Location, a son-in-law Richard Pascoe of Negaunee, a sister-in-law Priscilla Ogea of Negaunee, a brother-in-law Larry Warner of Champion, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Ogea, a daughter Judith Pascoe, a brother Walter Paavola, and a sister Aili Warner.


Funeral services will be held at 4:30pm on Saturday November 3, 2007 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee Twp.


The family will greet friends from 2:30pm until the time of services on Saturday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home.


Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons – Troy, Braun, Robin, Michael and Todd Ogea, & Dale Rogers.
