Hancock, MI – Timothy Charles LaFreniere, age 58, of Hancock, MI passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at UP Health System Portage while in the loving care of family and staff at Portage.

Tim was born in Garden City, MI and grew up in Republic.  He moved to Hancock for work and lived there for many years.  Tim traveled for work in several states with his bricklayer's crew.  He loved his work and the friends he worked with.  Much of the new construction in Marquette was done by them.  Tim also built several homes and loved the woods, hiking, fishing especially with his buddy Karl, and metal detecting.  He liked to cook and made wonderful breakfasts.  Tim was a proud enrolled member of the Metis Nation of Canada. He truly loved people, especially kids, along with animals.

Survivors include a daughter Nicole Cochran; granddaughter Bailey; sons – Mark and Alex; his mother Janet LaFreniere, sister Susan (Mike Kindstrand) LaFreniere; brother David (Leitha) LaFreniere; Tim was preceded in death by his father Louis LaFreniere, sister Mary Goodreau and grandparents Imbie and Arvid Olander.

Tim loved to tease his nephew Cory and niece Amanda.  He made friends easily and enjoyed meeting people.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am – 12:00pm on Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic.  A Memorial Service will follow at the church at 12:00pm with Rev. Alex Ross to officiate. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.  Interment will take place at the Republic Cemetery in the Spring.

Due to the increasing current COVID cases, and in consideration for others in attendance, the family asks you to kindly wear a mask while attending the services.
