National Mine, MI - Thomas C. Schroeder, age 65, longtime National Mine resident passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at his home of an apparent heart attack.

Thomas was born in Jackson, MI on February 9, 1958, and was the adopted son of the late Ada (Gross) and Adolph Schroeder. He was a member of the first graduating class of Westwood High School in 1975. Tom served his Country in the U.S. Army and had tried out for the 1984 US Winter Olympic Team in biathlon. He was a member of the NRA.  Tom worked for many years as a cook on the Great Lakes Ore Boats.

Survivors include three nieces – Tara (Robert) Collins of Negaunee, Tammy (Arlen) Stern of Schaumburg, IL and Becky (Sam Moran) Schroeder-Moran. He was preceded in death by a brother Timothy Schroeder.

Cremation will take place with no formal services planned.
