Ishpeming - Thomas "Bucky" Junak, Jr. age 90, longtime Greenwood Location resident passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette where he had resided for the past 6 years.

Thomas was born in Ishpeming on June 7, 1930 son of the late Loretta (Larmour) and Thomas Junak, Sr. and was raised in Greenwood Location.  He was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, Class of 1948. Thomas served in the U.S. Army as a Cpl during the Korean War. He worked as a Corrections Officer at Marquette Branch Prison for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Bucky loved time spent at camp with his dog Mindy on an almost daily basis.  He loved splitting wood at camp, playing cribbage, hunting, fishing along with feeding the deer.

Survivors include his 5 children - Danny "Jocko" (Pat) Junak of Ishpeming; Cathy Talsma of Ishpeming; Dennis (Joan) Junak of Sumter, SC; Mark "Juneau" (Lisa) Junak, of Ishpeming; Greg "Tex" (Lee Ann) Junak of Greenville, WI; sister, Marion (Vito) Frustaglio of Ishpeming; brother, Gerald (Gloria) Junak of Michigamme; grandchildren - Kristy Junak, Rick and David Larmour, Jordan Talsma, Makayla Junak, Ernest and Tim Junak, Amethyst Watts, Ashley Mann, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Jean R. (Plankey) Junak on July 17, 2020, along with a grandson Danny Junak.

The family will greet relatives and friends from11:00am – 12:00pm on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon with Fr. Ryan Ford officiating. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the U.P. Honors Team. Pallbearers will be Danny, Mark and Greg Junak, Jordan Talsma, Richard and Dave Larmour.

The Mass will be livestreamed, which can be found at ishpemingcatholic.com/live beginning at 11:50 on Saturday.  If attending the visitation or service, please adhere to social distancing and the wearing of a mask due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
