Thomas Irving Johnson

Negaunee- Thomas "Tommy" Johnson, age 69 of 109 S. Basin Dr. Negaunee, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MN where he had been a patient since May 3, 2007.

Thomas was born November 15, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Irving & Anna (Kyllonen) Johnson. Tom graduated from Iron River High School in 1957. He moved to Kenosha Wisconsin, then to Negaunee where he has resided for the past 34 years.

Tom worked as a heavy equipment operator for A. Lindberg and Sons for 45 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church in Negaunee.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diana (Hintsala) Johnson, 3 children: Todd Johnson of Negaunee, Troy (Jodi) Johnson of Pleasant Prairie, WI and Amanda (Cory) Johnson of Williamston, MI, 7 grandchildren: Jory, Talerie, Tia, Bradley, Tessa, Tawny and Ava, a sister Susan (Fred) Hintsala of Circle Pines, MN, 3 brothers: Ronald (Bonnie) Johnson of Hermantown, MN, Donald (Julie) Johnson of Iron River, and Robert (Candace) Johnson of Nekoosa, WI, brothers & sisters in laws: Dale (Ann) Hintsala, Dan (Marty) Hintsala, Shirley Hintsala and Leona Hintsala, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, along with a host of brothers and sisters in faith. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Tommy Scott Johnson.


Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00p.m. Friday at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church and again on Saturday from 1:30p.m. until the time of service.

Funeral services will be held 3:30p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, Co. Rd. 492, Negaunee with Ray Kovala officiating. Burial will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandson Jory Johnson, nephews Rob Johnson, Mike Hintsala, Andy Johnson, Bob Hintsala and Joel Hintsala.
