Ishpeming- Thomas "Jack" Hodge, age 88, lifelong area resident, passed away on Wednesday April 8, 2020 at his home while in the loving care of his wife, and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Jack was born in Negaunee, MI on April 19, 1931, son of the late William and Grace (Thomas) Hodge. He attended Ishpeming High School, graduating with the class of 1949. Following graduation Jack went to work for Inland Steel before starting his career in the Mines with Cliffs. Jack was a member of the board that created the Ishpeming Youth Center in the 1970's.
Jack was a lifelong area resident. He loved history, genealogy, computers, touring the UP checking out various area mines. Jack enjoyed travelling to visit his children.
Jack is survived by his wife of 67 years- Esther "Babu" (Valenzio) Hodge, 5 children- Susan (Kevin) Paveglio, Christine (Christopher) Crucitt, Pamela (Gordon) Argall, Thomas (Kelly) Hodge, Jon (Jane) Hodge, brother- Walter (Lou) Hodge, sister- Joy Pepper, brother-in-law- George Maki, sister-in-law- Ethel Valenzio, 12 grandchildren- Angela, Marie, Patrick, Stephen, Ryan, Cheri, Jillian, Rebecca, Lindsay, Christina, Thomas, Tommy, along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- William Hodge, and 2 sisters- Judy Hakes and Gay Maki.
Following Jacks wishes, cremation will take place with private family services to follow at a later date.
