Ely Twp- Theodore N. "Pep" Pepin, age 83 of 2543 Co. Rd. 496 Ishpeming (Ely Twp), passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 at his home while in the loving care of his family and Lake Superior Hospice.
Theodore was born September 24, 1928 in Negaunee to Napoleon & Alice (Hoid) Pepin. He graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1948. Ted worked as an auto mechanic for Cleveland Cliff Mining Company for 29 years, retiring in 1991 from the Tilden Mine.
Ted was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was an avid NMU Hockey fan, attending games for many years. Ted was most happy sawing lumber, tinkering with vehicles, spending time at camp with his kids and riding on his bulldozer. He also enjoyed hunting.
Ted is survived by his wife Betty (Johnson) Pepin, whom he married on August 26, 1950, 4 children: Ted (Corinne) Pepin, Gary (Darlene) Pepin, Susan (Gary) Haney and Jane (Robert) LaForest all of Ely Twp., a sister Janet (Stanley) Franson of Monroe, WI, 3 brothers: Richeld Pepin of Appleton, Gordon Pepin of Iron Mountain and William (Karen) Pepin of Helen Lake, 12 grandchildren: Mindy, Bradley, Carley, Kimberley, Lindsey, Steffanie, Gary, Jeffery, Michael, Robert, Danielle and Kara, 21 great grandchildren, brother in law Neil Chapman of Northlake along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his parents Napoleon and Alice, a sister Joan Chapman and sisters in law: Rita and Sandy Pepin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 26th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00 noon.
Pallbearers will be Theodore's grandchildren.
