Republic Twp.-Theodore Samuel "Buddy" Tuomi, age 68, of 1374 Hwy M-95 Republic, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 16th, 2009 at his home.

Theodore was born in Champion, Michigan on February 12, 1941, the son of the late Eino H. and Martha A. (Hupp) Tuomi. He was a 1959 graduate of Republic High School and honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. Buddy married Eileen Just on July 28, 1974. He retired from the Empire Mine after 30 years of work as a truck mechanic. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, yard ornaments and working on old cars.

Theodore is survived by his wife Eileen M. of Republic, a sister: Marcy (Don) Rankinen of Republic, a brother-in-law: Reino "Putty" Lassila at the Mather nursing Center, three step sons Dan (Cecelia) Bussiere of Kingsford, Paul (Kyong) Bussiere of Ishpeming, David Bussiere of Harvey, 7 Step-Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews, Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Alice Mattila, Lorraine Lassila, and Darlene Saari.

Private Graveside Services will be held at the Republic Twp Cemetery on Friday, June 19th, with Rev. Katherine Finegan officiating.
