Ishpeming – Terrance "Terry" L. Swenor, age 77, of Ishpeming, passed away Thursday September 7, 2017 at his son and daughter-in-law's home in York, PA while in the loving care of his family and Heartland Hospice.
Terry was born November 6, 1939 to the late Russell and Lucille (Dollar) Swenor in Racine County, WI. He married his wife Norma Jean on February 22, 1963.
Terry was a devoted husband and father. He had a 40 year career as an X-Ray Technician, working in the medical field at the William's Clinic and Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming and as a non-destructive test engineer at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL. He was a member of the National Skeet Shooting Association, Amateur Trapshooting Association, and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Terry loved all shooting sports, competing in national trapshooting competitions and was the 1970 World Skeet Shooting Champion. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Red Wings and Lions. Terry enjoyed kayaking, photography, wood working, and spending time with his family and friends.
Terry is survived by his wife Norma Jean (Nicholls) Swenor of Ishpeming, children- Henry (Peggy) Swenor of York, PA, Tracy (Daniel CAPT, USN) Gillen of Jacksonville, FL, Colette (Steve Jankiewicz) Swenor of Milwaukee, WI, 5 grandchildren- Jaclyn, Jenna, Thomas, Abigail and Michael, brother-Russell "Buck" Swenor of Gwinn, MI, sisters Lynn (Joe) Dupras of Harvey, MI, Jean (Rudy) Nyman of Champion, MI, and many nieces and nephews, special friends- Bill Kosinen, Jim Sodergren, and Bart Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister- Arlene Basal, and sister-in-law- Marcia (Marietti) Swenor.
Terry's family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00PM until the time of the service at 6:00PM on Monday September 11, 2017 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Fr. Frank Lenz to officiate.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org
