Ishpeming – Terry J. Grund, age 57, of 1541 Co. Rd. CL in Greenwood Location passed away on Saturday September 19, 2009 at the Bell Hospital in Ishpeming, following an apparent heart attack.


Terry was born September 22, 1951 in Ishpeming, the son of the Jennie (Suobank) and the late John Grund. He grew up in Diorite Location and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1969. He attended Michigan Tech until he was called to military service. Terry was in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a Ground Radio Repairman Specialist during the Vietnam War. He was currently employed by Cliffs Michigan Mining, working as a plant electrician at the Empire Mine. Terry was a dedicated and conscientious employee for the past 39½ years.

Terry had been an active member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, faithfully attending services with his mother. To all who knew Terry he will be remembered as a very hard working, kind hearted family man who enjoyed the outdoors.

Terry was a wonderful husband, loving father and a devoted son, and leaves behind his wife Betty (Rolstone) Grund of Greenwood Loc., 5 children – Samuel Grund and Christopher Grund both living at home in Greenwood Loc., Gregory Grund of Greenwood Loc., Jeanette Grund of Lower Michigan, and Michelle Grund of Palmer, his mother Jennie Matilda Grund of Diorite Loc., a sister Kaye (Paul) Steinke of Greenwood Loc., 2 grandchildren – Britny and Mickayle Grund, an aunt and uncle Betty and Nels Paavola, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father John and a brother Michael.


The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 until 6 pm on Wednesday September 23, 2009 at the Bible Baptist Church in Ishpeming Twp. Funeral services will be held at the Bible Baptist Church at 6:00pm on Wednesday with the Rev. James Hill to officiate. Interment will take place at the Humboldt Twp. Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Joel, Josh and Paul Steinke, Terry Currie, Tom Houseman and Rodney Prodell.
