Humboldt Twp., MI – Terry D. Gilmer, age 52 of 15266 Hwy. M-95 in Humboldt Twp. died on Wednesday November 14, 2007 at his home in Humboldt Twp.
Terry was born January 15, 1955 in Lansing, the son of the late Charles M and Merle L. (Vrogindewey) Gilmer. He moved to Gaylord and was raised there until age 12, when his family moved to Traverse City. He was a graduate of the Traverse City High School and went on to receive his RN nursing Degree. He practiced nursing in the Lansing Area at Saginaw Hospital prior to moving to Humboldt Twp. over 25 years ago. While in the Upper Peninsula he worked at Marquette General Hospital and Dickinson County Hospital as a RN. He served on the Humboldt Twp Board of Review. Terry had an Entrepreneurial Spirit, as evidenced by his Grizzly Gilmer's Maple Syrup Business which he ran for several years. Terry was an avid outdoorsman, having built his own Log Cabin from the lumber on his land. He also enjoyed playing around with his tractor, along with hunting on his land.
Survivors include 2 brothers – C. Michael (Tawni) Gilmer of Interlochen, MI and Ted (Ruth) Gilmer of Empire, MI; a sister Patricia (Ronnie) Stewart of Holden, LA; along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, November 19, 2007 from 3:00pm until 4:00pm at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming, MI.
