Obituary

Ishpeming- Teckla Elizabeth Holmgren, age 96 passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Mather Nursing Center while in the loving comfort of her family.

Teckla was born in Ishpeming, and moved to Republic as a young girl. As a teen, Teckla returned to Ishpeming, and was a graduate of Ishpeming High School. She married George F. Holmgren in 1937, and they enjoyed 67 years together until his passing. She and her husband raised their family at 462 West Empire Street, and had been a resident of the Mather Nursing Center for the past six months.

Teckla worked for Consolidated Fuel and Lumber as a book keeper, and taught Sunday School at Bethany Lutheran Church for many years. Teckla and George enjoyed spending their summers at their cottage north of Ishpeming. They loved fishing for brook trout in the Barnhardt river, and could often be seen fishing on the shores of Silver Lake.

Teckla was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter Barbara Holmgren-Roubekas. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Ronald) Honkala, her son, George (Barbara) Holmgren, grandchildren Jim (Carolyn) Trewnick, Michael (Lisa) Holmgren, Keith (Sherri) Holmgren, Leon Roubekas, and Kathy (Andreas) Heldman, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Teckla's family would like to thank all of the angels at the Mather Nursing Center for their loving and tender care.

As per Teckla's wishes, private services will be held. Memorials may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church in Teckla's memory.
