Ishpeming - Suzanne A. Coron, age 82, of 2000 Washington Ave., Ishpeming, passed away on Thursday March 10, 2016 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had been a resident since January.
Suzie was born on September 7, 1933 in Ishpeming. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1951. She began her career in banking at the Peninsula Bank in 1958, working her way up to become the first female Vice-President at the Bank. Suzie retired in 1996 after 38 years of service to her customers whom she truly enjoyed.
Beyond her job, Suzie enjoyed taking care of her family who always came first in her eyes. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She had previously been active with the Business and Professional Women (BPW), the Peninsula Waters Girl Scouts and had served on the Board of Directors at the Bell Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include a son Steven (Karin Wagner) Coron of Ypsilanti, daughter – Renee (Scott Juchemich) Coron of Ishpeming, grandchildren – Philip and Julia Coron and Olivia Frechen, sister Zoe (Dudley) Nelson of Ishpeming, brother Paul (Jeanette) Pietro of Alaska, sister-in-law Mary Gray of Marquette, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Coron on Feb. 27, 2015.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00pm on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Fr. Dan Moll to officiate. Suzie's family will greet relatives and friends from 2 until 4pm on Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Entombment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery Columbarium. A dinner will be served in the church hall following the Mass.
