Ishpeming- Marietta "Sue" Rader, age 68, longtime area resident, passed away on September 1, 2021, at her home while in the loving care of her family, and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Sue was born in Marquette on May 12, 1953, the daughter of the late James and Ruth (Hanninen) Hintz. She was a graduate of Ishpeming High School and following graduation went on to get an associate's degree from Northern Michigan University for Medical Secretary. She worked for 25 years for the Marquette County Health Department, and prior to the Health Department she worked at the Williams Clinic, Dr. Rao's office, and CCI.
Sue enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, playing in cribbage leagues, picking berries, and spending time at camp on the Dead River. But most of all she loved being a wife, mom, and grandma, playing games and crafting with her grandchildren, or just being with them. Socializing with friends and her faith were also important.
Sue is survived by her husband John L. Rader who she married on October 19, 1974, 2 sons- John M. (Christina) Rader, Daniel Rader, sister- Ruth "Dolly" Hintz, sisters-in-law- Tammy Rader, Joan Groom, 4 grandchildren- Nicholas, Kailee, Marionnah, and Logan, nieces- Dana (Jake) Amacher, Jasmine Hintz, along with numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers- Jim and Martin Hintz, father-in-law and mother-in-law- Harry and Phyllis (Lind) Rader, and brother-in-law- Bill Rader.
Sue's family will greet relatives and friends at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming on Tuesday September 7, 2021 from 10:00am until 11:00am. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am with Pastor Steve Weston officiating. A luncheon will follow the service in the church hall. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Bethel Lutheran Church 333 E. Ridge St. Ishpeming, MI 49849 in memory of Sue.
