Ishpeming – Susan K. Lehto, age 59, of 1485 S. Westwood Circle, Ishpeming Twp. passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at her home while in the loving care of her family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.
Susan was born October 18, 1952 in Ishpeming the daughter of Joyce (Peterson) and the late Clifford Lehto. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1970. Sue went on to N.M.U. receiving an associate degree in business. Sue's employment began with E.C.I. in Ishpeming as an office manager where she worked for 19 years. She went on to become an insurance agent for the Farmers and Merchants Insurance Co., managing the Lehto Agency in Ishpeming for several years. Sue then became a real estate agent, working for several agencies, most recently with Select Realty in Marquette.
Sue was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where she was active with many committees. She enjoyed to spend time at her camp on Petticoat Lake, especially fishing at the end of the dock. She loved listening to music and attended many live concerts with her husband. Traveling was another of her interests, most notably trips out west to see family in Colorado and California.
Survivors include her husband of the past ten years Paul Russell of Ishpeming, her mother Joyce Lehto of Ishpeming, a son Jake Larson of Marquette, two granddaughters Ava and Bria Larson who were the apple of her eye, a step-daughter Rachel (Terry) Dehnel of Wausau, WI, two sisters – Elaine Racine of Ishpeming and Carol (Leonard) Truscott of Marquette, uncle and aunts – Richard and Joyce Lehto of Ishpeming and Dorothy Fedorow of Chicago, IL, nephews – Brett (Chris Richards) Antilla and Scott (Edith) Antilla along with other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Clifford Lehto.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00pm – 3:00pm on Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kenneth Lahners to officiate. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Susan's memory.
