Ishpeming – Su-Ellen Smallridge, age 66, of 427 Ely St., Ishpeming passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Marquette General Hospital - Hospice Unit, while under the loving care of her family and the Lake Superior Hospice.


Su-Ellen was born April 6, 1946 in Huntington, WV, the daughter of the late Merrell A. and Lillian (McWhorter) Walker. She grew up in Huntington, WV where she graduated from High School. Su-Ellen moved to California in her early 20's and had attended Valley College in San Bernardino, CA. She had lived in Highland, CA and worked as a bus driver for over 10 years while in California. In 2002 she moved to Ishpeming with her family. Su-Ellen enjoyed crafting, sewing, quilting, reading and camping. She was an honorary member of the AmVets Auxiliary, Post #122.


Survivors include her longtime partner Anna Roberts of Ishpeming, a daughter Arlena (Ron) Fenton of Ishpeming, 2 sisters – June (Ed) Cobb of MA, and Lillian (Dale) Jones of NC, 6 grandchildren – Sarah (Nick) Toutant, Brandon, Kyle, Tanner, Travis, Trevor Fenton, a brother-in-law – Ron (Linda) Sandstrom of Marquette, a sister-in-law – Theresa (Brad) Schaedig of Tega Cay, NC, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Roy Smallridge and a sister Estella Speed.


The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00noon – 1:00pm on Saturday January 12, 2013 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home where there will be a sharing of memories at 1:00pm.
