Ishpeming, MI- Steven Joseph Rice, age 67, former Ishpeming resident passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the Trillium Hospice House in Marquette while in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice, and Trillium House staff.

Steven was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on November 29, 1955, a son of the late Marjorie Mae (Palmer) and Joseph Edward Rice. He graduated from New Hampshire High School, in Montauk, NY. Following graduation Steven enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Steve worked as a rural postal carrier for the USPS in Marquette for 20 plus years. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time at camp, deer hunting especially bow hunting, he also enjoyed watching football.

Steve is survived by his son Nathaniel Rice of Hubbell, MI, two sisters; Paula Sanchez, of Gwinn; and Vickie (Gordon) Singer, of Republic, along with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph Rice, and Marjorie Sanchez- Palmer, along with aunts and uncles.

Honoring Steve's wishes, cremation will take place and a private graveside service will be held at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
