Obituary

National Mine – Steven A. "Pidge" Guizzetti, age 57, of 315 Co. Rd. PAG passed away on Sunday April 21, 2013 at 6:47pm at the Bell Hospital Emergency Room in Ishpeming.


Steven was born on April 28, 1955 in Ishpeming the son of Alexander Guizzetti and the late Doreen (Kujansuu) LaCombe. He attended the National Mine School. "Pidge" had worked at Selin's Furniture Store in the stock and delivery dept. in his younger years. He then became a Union Laborer for Local #1329, working for 32+ years on construction projects mainly in the Upper Peninsula, retiring in 2010. "Pidge" had also worked as the head of the reconditioning shop for Nelson / Crown (Fox) Chevrolet in Negaunee. Many had said that "Pidge" was the hardest worker they had ever seen, and he truly will be missed by those who knew him.

Steven married Cheryl Dunstan on June 18, 1977 at the Salisbury United Methodist Church in Ishpeming and together they raised two children. Steven had also served as the caregiver to his father for the past several years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, spending time with his canine pal "Maxamillion" and road trips to the casino.

Survivors include his wife Cheryl Guizzetti of National Mine, his father Alexander Guizzetti of Ishpeming, a son Bradley Guizzetti of Belgium, WI and his girlfriend Samantha Burdge and her daughter Nevaeh, a daughter Terra Guizzetti of Ishpeming, 4 grandchildren – Noah Guizzetti, Riley Perry, Skylar Guizzetti and Ellie Guizzetti, a sister Kelly Chesney of Chicago, IL, 2 brothers – Paul LaCombe of National Mine and his girlfriend Lisa Aeisthorpe and her daughter Jordan, and John (Lisa) LaCombe of Marquette, an aunt and uncle Sally and Steven Magnuson of National Mine, aunt Judy Williamson & family of Pelham, NH along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents Carl & Sadie Kujansuu.

Honoring Pidge's wishes there will be no services at this time.
