Ishpeming- Steven R. Chartre, age 43, Ishpeming resident passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 as a result of a boating accident on Lake Superior.

Steven was born November 9, 1972 in Ishpeming to Raymond & Kay (Lanyon) Chartre.  He attended school in Negaunee and received an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Computer Network Systems and Security in 2013 from Bay College in Escanaba. . Steve was in the process of starting his own business in computer security networking.

Steve enjoyed skiing, riding dirt bikes, computer gaming, and being at camp.  He was an excellent artist and a Dallas Cowboy fan.  Steve cherished time spend with his family and many friends, but most of all time spent with his sons Justin and Ethan were very special to him.

Steve is survived by a son Justin Chartre of Ishpeming, his parents Ray & Kay Chartre of Negaunee, 2 grandchildren: Emmett & Kyleigh Chartre, 2 brothers: James Chartre of Negaunee and Nicholas (Jenna) Chartre of Ishpeming, a niece Ashley Chartre, along with aunts, uncles and cousins.  Steve's son Ethan also passed away as a result of the boating accident.  Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents: Donald & Dorothy Lanyon and Patrick & Beulah Chartre.

Steve's family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00-3:00pm on Saturday October 8, 2016 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where funeral services for Steve will be held at 3:00pm with Rev. Warren Geier officiating.

Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Justin, James & Nicholas Chartre, Bill Mason, Loren Heil and Jeff Marta.

A luncheon will be held following the service.
