Marquette, MI- Steven "Benger" Bengston, 67, passed away at home on January 6th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Steven was born on October 5th, 1956, to Clyde Bengston and Kathleen (Yesney) FitzPatrick. After graduating from Ishpeming High School, he went on to work for Cliffs at the Humboldt, Empire, and Tilden Mines. He retired from Cliffs in 2016.

He was passionate about snowmobiles, cars, Nascar and taking trips to the casino with his buddies. He took pride in teaching his great nephew Gavin, his knowledge when it came to snowmobiles. They spent countless hours in the garage and riding the trails together which will never be forgotten. He was the embodiment of the term SISU, having a strength and determination like no other. Over the past five months he was able to build a beautiful bond with his niece Linda who he liked to call his "angel" for being by his side every step of the way along with his sister Debbie and brother-in-law Louie.

Steven was preceded in death by his Father Clyde Bengston, Special Aunt Dolly Luoma and Nephew Joshua Willey. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen FitzPatrick, his siblings, Debbie (Louie) Willey, Susan Bastidas, and Scott Bengston. Nieces and Nephews, Kerri (Tony) Waun, Heather (Eric) Codding, Christina (Nick) Smart, Craig (Kristin) Willey, and Linda (D.J.) Manninen, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of Steven's life will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Congress Lounge & Pizza.

Burial will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery in the spring.

The family would like to thank the wonderful team at The Trillium House for their part in caring for Steve during his time there and a special thanks to Dr. Joseph Steele for the compassionate care that he gave Steve.
