Ishpeming- Stephen J. Holmgren, age 59 of 563 Jopling Street Ishpeming passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at his home.

Stephen was born March 13, 1956 in Marquette to the late John E. & Shirley M. (Herlich) Holmgren. Stephen was a 1974 graduate of the Ishpeming High School. He worked as a 911 dispatcher for Marquette County for 25 years, retiring in 2008.

Stephen worked as a disc jockey for WJPD radio in his younger years. He had a huge collection of baseball hats of Police Departments. Stephen enjoyed time coffee clutching with a group of friends, but most enjoyed time with his two grandsons, Ethan & Landin.

Stephen is survived by his daughter Shari (Eric) Koski of Negaunee, grandsons Ethan Paul Koski and Landin Eric Koski, his former wife Llewanne Salo of Ishpeming, 2 aunts: Marie Herlich and Arlene Herlich both of Marquette along with cousins. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents John & Shirley Holmgren.

Funeral services for Stephen will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee with Rev. Steven Solberg officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Immanuel Lutheran Church on Thursday from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm.

Pallbearers will be Eric Koski, Byron Koski, Rich Wentala, Jerry Sundberg, Ken Goldsworthy and Steve Talus.

A luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.
