Marquette, MI- Sigward Olson, age 87, of Marquette passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at UP Health System Marquette.

Sig was born to Ole and Martha (Swensen) Olson on May 26, 1934, in Big Bay. He graduated from Baraga High School. He joined the Navy and served for four years. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Tollefson on September 6, 1958, in Lanse.

Sig was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Ishpeming serving on the board for 40 years.  He worked in building construction in Marquette for many years.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis, 3 sons Darryl (Tammy) of Ft Wayne, IN, Dennis (Yumiko Sano) of San Marcoa, CA, Jeff (Sally) of Marquette; 4 daughters Karen Olson of Hartland, MI, Annie (Al) Curtis of Hartland, Kristen (James) Kroger of Peoria, IL, Leah (Chris) Morris of Waukesha, WI, 13 grandchildren Aaron, Ashley, Noah, Britta, Taylor, Jaime, Isaac, Katie, Jesse, Molly, Connor, Josh, and Ava.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother Ode, sister Gladys Ross, and grandson Daniel Olson.

A funeral service will be held for Sig at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Ishpeming on Friday August 6, 2021 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee.
