Ishpeming – Shirley L. Sundblad, age 83, of 703 Elliott Ave., Ishpeming passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 while in the loving care of her family, at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility where she had been a resident for the past 3 years and 4 months.

Shirley was born July 1, 1932 in Ishpeming, MI the daughter of the late Carl and Katherine (Dellangelo) Lemin. She grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1950. Shirley had worked briefly for Michigan Bell as a telephone operator. She married Stuart Sundblad on March 7, 1952 in Ishpeming. They moved to Boston, MA, where they spent a few years during Stuart's Navy years. Upon his discharge, they returned to Ishpeming where they raised a family of 3 children. Shirley was the quintessential homemaker, taking care of her families needs.

Shirley was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and a former member of the Lady Elks, Eastern Star, and the Michigan Bell Belle's. She truly cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed attending their events and activities. She was a proud supporter of the Ishpeming Alumni Association and the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include her children – Mark (Lynne) Sundblad, Kris (Scott) Rasmussen and Ann Sundblad all of Ishpeming, sister Judy Sundblad of Lady Lake, FL, brother Carl (Jackie) Lemin of Kingsford, sister-in-law Colleen Sundblad of Ishpeming, brother-in-law Jim Lawson of Ishpeming, 4 grandchildren – Jennifer Sundblad, Carla Lovern, Jeffrey Scanlon and his fiancée Vanessa Harmon, and Natalie Rasmussen, 2 great grandchildren - Dawson Sundberg and Riley Lovern, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Stuart Sundblad in 1997.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Warren Geier to officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am – 12:00noon on Tuesday at the church. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Bethany Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Shirley's memory.
