Ely Twp- Shirley A. Stankorb, age 69 of 4461 US Hwy 41 West Lot 10 Ishpeming (Ely Twp) passed away Sunday August 7, 2016 at UP Health System Marquette.
Shirley was born January 19, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Delbert & Evelyn (Sangster) Kukla. She graduated from North Eastern High School in Detroit, class of 1965. She worked as a housekeeper at the Brentwood Motor Inn in Marquette for many years. Shirley had a heart of gold, always willing to help others. She played in the Ishpeming Pool League for Woody's Bar.
Shirley is survived by 3 sons: Delbert Stankorb- Hebron, OH, Tommy Joe Stankorb Jr- Ishpeming and Willy Stankorb- Ishpeming, 1 sister: Betty (Chuck) Marshall- Detroit, 3 brothers: Joe (Bev) Kukla- Detroit, Chris Kukla- National Mine, Robert (Donna) Kukla- Gwinn, 3 grandchildren: Codie Miner, Nikki Stankorb and Travis Gerhke, along with nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Jo Stankorb on May 12, 2016, and her brother Wayne Kukla.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am – 12:00noon on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral where a memorial service will follow at 12:00noon with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate.
