Negaunee- Shirley Ann Seppanen, age 65 of 117 Buffalo Rd. Negaunee, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.
Shirley was born October 7, 1945 to Fannie (Kyllonen) Ruuska and the late George Ruuska. She graduated from Republic High School, class of 1963 and attended Northern Michigan University. Shirley worked as a special education aid for the Negaunee Public Schools. Shirley and her husband Theodore, whom she married on August 15, 1964, previous lived in Neenah, Ishpeming and Hoyt Lakes, MN prior to moving to Negaunee. She was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Congregation of Negaunee.
Shirley is survived by her husband Theodore Seppanen, her mother Fannie Ruuska of Marquette, 3 children: Timothy (Karin) Seppanen of Temple, NH, Brian (Meridith) Seppanen of Ishpeming and Janet (Eric) Deterville of Green Bay, WI, 2 brothers: George (Ann) Ruuska of Marquette and Leonard (Teresa) Ruuska of Hibbing, MN, a sister Susan Ruuska of Minnesota, 8 grandchildren: Stephanie Novak, Jared Seppanen, Natyla Seppanen, Honora Seppanen, Liam Seppanen, Annabella Seppanen, Ashleigh Almy and Darrian Seppanen, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of brothers & sisters in faith. Shirley was preceded in death by her father George Ruuska and a daughter Dianne Novak.
Funeral services for Shirley will be held 1:00PM on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Congregation, Co. Rd. 492, Negaunee with Dale Kemp officiating. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Congregation on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00pm and on Wednesday from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00PM.
