Palmer – Shirley A. Pepin, age 82, resident at the Warner Creek Residential Care Facility in Palmer and longtime Ishpeming resident died in the loving arms of her daughter Anne and her caregivers at Warner Creek.
Shirley was born July 22, 1925 in Ishpeming, the daughter of the late Daniel and Frances (Nault) Cudahy. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1942 and attended Business School in Green Bay for the next two years. She worked for the Sundblad Insurance Agency in Ishpeming and then in the Insurance Dept. at Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co., Main Offices in Ishpeming for 20 years, retiring in 1985.
Shirley was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming and the American Legion Auxiliary #349 in Little Lake. Shirley enjoyed time spent with her children and especially her loving grandchildren. One of Shirley's favorite activities was playing BINGO.
Survivors include her children – Anne Michell of Palmer, Lawrence Pepin of Albert Lea, MN, Mary J. Pepin of Appleton, WI and Patricia Tonge of Republic; 7 grandchildren – Patrick, Amy, Jennifer, Tracy, Angela, Kristie and Katie; 6 great grandchildren – Tyler, Alexis, Alyssa, Riley, Trent and Kayden, along with a great granddaughter to be born in May. She is also survived by several cousins, uncles, her extended family at Warner Creek and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers – Robert Cudahy and Daniel Cudahy Jr., and a sister-in-law - Renee Cudahy
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00pm on Wednesday March 5, 2008 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Friends may call at the St. John's Catholic Church from 1:30 until 3:00pm on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be grandsons – Craig, Jon and Jeff, and cousins – Dan and Jim Gaboury and David Swanson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Warner Creek Residential Care Facility, Activities Fund, at P.O. Box 108, Palmer, MI 49871.
