Ishpeming- Shirley F. McLaughlin age 73 former Ishpeming resident and longtime Detroit area resident passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.

Shirley was born October 7, 1937 in Ishpeming to David & Lily (Holli) Koskela. She graduated from Ewen High School and moved to Detroit where she worked at the YWCA for many years. She belonged to the Finnish-American Club in Detroit and a member of the EAGLES Club of Beaverton. She enjoyed spending summers at her cottage in Beaverton and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She will miss her canine companion Sami.

Shirley is survived by cousins, including David (Patricia) Holli, Marilyn (Samuli) Savolainen both of Ishpeming and Melvin (Betsy) Holli of Wheaton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Homer.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Kenton, MI.
