Ishpeming- Shirley A. Kelly age 89, long time Champion area resident and most recently a resident at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, passed away on Monday November 19, 2018 at MCMCF while in the loving care of her family and nursing home staff.
Shirley was born in Ishpeming on November 24, 1928 to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Schaffer) Johnson. She was a graduate of Ishpeming High School class of 1946. Shirley and her late husband Herbert Kelly were married for over 50 years.
Shirley worked many jobs including working at the Gossard building, the dry cleaners in Ishpeming, the Style Shop, the Giving Tree, and JC Penny where she was the catalog department manager for 27 years. She loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her 2 daughters- Deborah (Allan) Morris, Kathleen (Reid Fischer) Juntila, 6 grandchildren- Jamie (Jason Black) Raisanen, April (Tom Hebert) Raisanen, Kyle (Crystal) Juntila, Heather (Danny) Carr, Kortnie (Christopher) Fredrickson, Joseph (Sarah) Morris, 8 great grandchildren- Jacob Laakso, Hunter Laakso, RaeLynn Raisanen, Gage Stone, Ethan Ahtonen, Morgan Groleau, Gavin Groleau, Bella Carr, 4 sisters- Jeannette (Douglas) McNeil, Joan (Andy) Solka, Grace (Kenneth) Saari, Mariann (David) French, 2 brothers- Clarence (Alice) Johnson, Robert (Marlene) Johnson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert Kelly, 3 sisters- Beverly (Donald) Magnuson, Judith (Art) Dixon, Betty (Theodore) Pepin, brother- Raymond (Ruth) Johnson, and infant granddaughter- Crystal Raisanen.
Following Shirley's wishes, no public services will be held. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery in the spring.
