Republic, MI- Sharon Rae Kangas, age 78, longtime resident of Republic, passed to eternal life peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Mill Creek Assisted Living while in the loving care of family, staff at Mill Creek and U.P. Home Health and Hospice.

Sharon was born on April 17, 1943 in Ishpeming, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Carlson) Sullivan.  She graduated from Republic High School and went on to attend cosmetology school in Marquette.

Sharon loved spending time with her family (especially her grandchildren) and her many friends.  She was a life-long member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where she was one of the pasty makers for many years.  She loved to shop and would frequently travel to Green Bay with her girlfriends and family for a weekend.  Sharon was a friendly, outgoing person who always made time to help others or provide encouraging words to anyone in need.

Sharon is survived by 2 children; Jon (Alison) Kangas of Republic, Cindy (Thomas) Robinson of Caledonia, MI, a sister Diane (Dave) Wood of Ishpeming, her grandchildren; Elizabeth, Zachary, and Jillian Kangas and Christopher Robinson, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, her sister Margaret, and her grandson Alex.

Sharon's family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon with Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating.
