Warner Robins, GA – Sharon J. Counselman, age 65, former Ishpeming resident passed away on Wednesday Dec. 15, 2010 at the home of her son where she had been residing for the past two years.
Sharon was born July 5, 1945 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late Arvid and Marion (Pascoe) Niemi. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1963 and went on to attend N.M.U. Sharon had worked on the production line at Robbins Flooring Mill in Ishpeming for nearly 20 years, retiring from that job in 1998. She went on to work as an attendant at Curves in Ishpeming for a few years.
Sharon was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming along with the Red Hat Society. She had a special love for butterflies. Sharon enjoyed reading along with any opportunity to play a game of cribbage.
Survivors include a son Darron (Valerie) Counselman of Warner Robins, GA, a daughter Niki Counselman of Valdosta, GA, grandchildren – Garrett Counselman and Allison Newman, a sister – Pat (Doug) Potila of National Mine, a brother – Brian (Chris) Niemi of Ishpeming, an aunt Nancy Wood, along with nephews – Travis and Jason Potila & Raymond Niemi. She was preceded in death by a son Steven Counselman.
Cremation has taken place in Georgia, with a memorial service to be held in the spring at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.
