Ishpeming- Sharleen N. Kari, age 59 of 400 Kari Lane, Ishpeming passed away on Thursday October 29th at her home, with her family at her side and UP Home Health & Hospice, after a long battle with cancer. She is now at peace and totally healed in heaven with her Lord and Saviour Jesus. Sharleen was born September 30, 1950 in Ishpeming.
Sharleen is survived by her husband of 41 years, David Kari, daughter, Lisa (Fred) Sitkins of Boyne City, MI, sons, David John (Rehana) Kari Jr.of St. Paul, MN, Nathan (Kerry) Kari of Tucson, AZ, & Benjamin Kari of Ishpeming, her mother, Nancy (Victor) Sterner of Lancaster, OH, step-mother, Bonnie Gravedoni of Ishpeming, sisters, Peggy (David) Cloninger of Seldovia, Alaska, Lyndel Friess of Wylie, TX, Janine (Tim) Dellangelo of Ishpeming, Andrea (Erik) Korpi of Ishpeming, brother, James Gravedoni Jr. of Ishpeming, mother-in-law Mae Kari of Ishpeming and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, James R. Gravedoni, father-in-law, Waino Kari, brother, Troy James Gravedoni, and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
Sharleen graduated from National Mine High School in 1969 and was a Northern Michigan University Surgical Technician graduate. She was a home school teacher, driver for Community Mental Health, art teacher for Lake Superior Christian School, secretary for Northern Michigan Coaches, Marquette General Surgical Tech, and Sleep Study Technician. She did volunteer work at AM-97 Christian Radio Station, Mission Bible Training Center, Great Lakes Recovery Center, and was an anti-abortion activist, member and secretary/treasurer of Good Shepherd Fellowship, board member of F.I.D.E.L.I.T.Y. Inc., and went on several mission trips to foreign countries.
She was very gifted and had many hobbies such as crocheting, knitting, beaded jewelry, painting, stain glass, cake decorating, and gingerbread houses, but she was most loved and well known for her kind and generous heart for everyone she met, especially young people.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the Good News Assembly of God Church in Ishpeming with Pastor Ken Oja officiating. Friends may call the church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m.
