Ishpeming- Selma Maria (Juhola) Stokes, age 91 of 258 Hill St. Ishpeming, passed away on Monday, October 01, 2012 at the Bell Hospital in Ishpeming.
Selma was born in Ishpeming on October 3, 1920 to John & Hilma (Mustaniemi) Juhola. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1938. Selma served her country in the US Army during World War II. Selma worked as an office supply clerk as a civilian worker for the U.S. Government. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildern and taking walks in the woods.
Selma is survived by 7 children: Janice (Brian) Roldan of San Luis Obispo, CA, Barbara (Charles) Williams of Dayton, NV, Martha Stokes of Norfolk, VA, Chris Hartley of Alabama, Ronald Stokes of Ishpeming, Lorraine Hosie of Ishpeming and James (Laura) Stokes of Menominee, MI, a brother Donald Juhola of Iron Mountain, a sister Kathy Salmi of Idaho, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Selma was preceded in death by her husband Milton Stokes, 3 brothers and 7 sisters.
There will be no service or visitation for Selma. An inurnment service will take place at the Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
