Marquette, MI- Scott P. Hassell, age 42 Marquette resident, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, October 19, 2012.
Scott was born on June 15, 1970 in Green Bay, WI to Ronald & Penny (Gustafson) Hassell. He grew up in Marquette and graduated from Bi-County High School, class of 1988. Following graduation Scott enlisted in the United States Navy. He served from 1989 to 1992, serving during the Persian Gulf War. He spent 9 years living in Sheboygan, WI working for the Kohler Company as a C N C Operator. He was most recently working for Four Seasons Lawn Care.
Scott was very kind and caring, had the best laugh, crude & clever sense of humor. He was an excellent cook. Along with AC/DC he liked Metallica & Black Sabbath. He loved spending time with friends & family, especially his girls. He was a big Beef-A-Roo shake enthusiast. He liked going on walks with his daughter Kaylee. He had a love for the outdoors: fishing & hunting, along with spending time at camp on Noreen Lake. He also enjoyed going to camp in Big Bay with his Trobe friends, and loved playing cribbage & dice.
Scott will be sadly missed by his parents Penny & Ron Hassell, his two daughters Kaylee & Jessica Hassell and their mother Tina Houle, his brother Jerry (Theresa) Hassell and their children: Evan, Jadyn and Jenna, his grandmother Betty Gustafson all of Marquette, aunts & uncles: Gary (Marsha) Bergh of Houston, TX, Cheryl (Charlie) Beaudry of Arcadia, FL, Paula (Larry) Chambers of South Haven, MI, Terry Hassell of Milwaukee, Chris (Don) Savard of Big Bay along with many cousins and many of his special Trowbridge friends. Scott is also survived by father in law Robert Houle Sr of Marquette, brother in law Mike Houle of Green Bay, Robert Houle Jr (Diane) of Marquette, Jerry Cox (Kathy) of Marquette and several nieces and nephews.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandfather Norman Gustafson, grandmothers: Wanda Gustafson and Irene Gustafson, grandparents: Paul & Ione Hassell, aunts Marie Karabetsos, and Gail Harvey and his mother in law Marcia Houle.
A memorial service to celebrate Scott's life will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church 1700 W. Fair Ave., Marquette with Rev. Chad Ott officiating. The family requests casual attire.
Scott's family will greet relatives and friends at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm.
A potluck luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.
