Palmer, MI - Sarina F. Heikkila, age 57, of 202 Simpson Ave Palmer, passed away peacefully Friday, August 4, 2023, while in  the loving care of her family and the Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.

Sarina was born in Ishpeming on June 23, 1966, a daughter of the late Sharon (Johnson) and Kenneth  Lequia. She grew up in Negaunee Twp. and was a graduate of the Negaunee High School, Class of 1984. She married James Heikkila on Aug 11, 1984, and together they raised 5 sons. Sarina had worked in the Negaunee Central Grade School Cafeteria for a few years. She had a creative soul, enjoyed her arts and crafts projects, bird watching and various genres of music, but most important to her was spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband James N. Heikkila of Palmer, five sons - Kenneth J. (Jen) Heikkila of Ishpeming, Kyle (Katie) Heikkila of Ann Arbor, Michael Heikkila, Mark Heikkila and Matthew Heikkila all of Palmer,  4 grandchildren - Lucy, Theodore, Zellie and Madelyn Heikkila, three sisters - Debbie Taylor of Ishpeming, Sherrie Puppe of Hensel, ND; Tina (Keith) Carlson of Negaunee,  two brothers - Tim (Ann) Lequia of Clarksburg; Terry (Kim) Lequia of Palmer, 2 aunts, Verona Wehmanen and Shirley Michelson, a special niece Chauntelle, along with several other nieces and nephews and a very special friend Yvette Niemi. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law Bill Taylor.

Per Sarina's wishes, cremation will take place with no public services.
