Ishpeming Twp, MI- Samuel James "Sam" Watters, age 80, Ishpeming Township resident passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, while in the loving care of his family, staff at MCMCF and Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.
Samuel was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on April 8, 1944, a son of the late James and Loretta (Solf) Watters. He was a 1962 graduate of Champion High School.
Sam started working for A Lindberg and Sons at the age of eighteen, where he worked 33 years retiring as a truck driver. He was a member of Teamsters Local 486. Sam had a passion for old Ford cars and tractors. He was a member of the Superior A's Model A Club. He was also an honorary member of the Champion Township Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Ishpeming Township Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time at camp, hunting and coffee clutching at the Ishpeming Senior Center.
Sam is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet (Saari) Watters, three daughters; Terri (Jim) Dauphinais of Negaunee; Dawn (Shawn) LaBreche of Negaunee; and Christy (Scott) Larson of Fowlerville, MI, grandchildren; Sam and Ariel Dauphinais, Tyler and Ella LaBreche, Cody, Peyton, Tanner (Chloe), Alli, Garett, and Graham Larson, a great granddaughter Chloe, brother in law; Edmond "Joey" Heikkinen along with nieces and nephews.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lauretta Ann Heikkinen.
Honoring Sam's wishes private family services will be held with burial to take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
