Ishpeming – Salvatore J. "Tudy" Bertucci, age 85, of 208 S. Pine St. Ishpeming passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Mather Nursing Center where he had been admitted a day earlier. He had been battling cancer for the past 7 years.
Salvatore was born September 21, 1928 in Ishpeming the son of the late Guiseppe and Giovanna (Roti) Bertucci. Tudy was a lifelong Ishpeming resident and a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1948. Tudy worked as a boiler fireman at the Robbins Flooring Mill in Ishpeming for many years.
Salvatore was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a proud member of the St. Rocco – St. Anthony Society and looked forward to their annual picnic at Al Quaal. Tudy enjoyed attending all his grandchildren's activities and events. He also looked forward to each Sunday morning spent with family following Mass, along with watching the Detroit Tigers and time spent with his canine companion Rudy.
Survivors include 5 children – Joe (Sandy) Bertucci of Dearborn Heights, Terry (Linda) Bertucci of Ishpeming, Deeny Bertucci of Ishpeming, Jim (Connie) Bertucci of Ishpeming and Tony (April) Bertucci of Ishpeming; 2 sisters – Catherine Kirwan of Venice, CA and Betty Conradson of Milwaukee, WI; 2 brothers Tony Bertucci of Ishpeming and Jim (Cathy) Bertucci of Fountain Hills, AZ; 9 grandchildren who will serve as honorary pallbearers – Nathan, Matthew, Tony, Rachel, Beth, Guiseppi, Emily, Dominic & Megan; 4 great grandchildren Landon, Calvin, Cheyanne and Peyton; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna (Winter) Bertucci in 2005, his parents, a sister Jenny Cooper; and 2 brothers Viti and Rocky Bertucci.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10am – 11am on Monday June 23, 2014 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday June 23, 2014 with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
