Ishpeming – Salvatore D. Andriacchi, age 89 of 356 W. Division St. Ishpeming passed away at 11:50pm on Saturday June 9, 2007 at his home in Ishpeming.
Salvatore was born November 29, 1917 in Ishpeming the son of the late Dominic and Catherine (Tassone) Andriacchi. He was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1936, and went on to further his education at the University of Notre Dame, graduating with a B.A. in 1940 and a B.F.A. in 1941. While at Notre Dame he was a proud member of the St. Ed's Athletic Club. Following his schooling, Salvatore returned to Ishpeming, prior to serving in the United States Army during World War II in France. Salvatore returned following the war and ran a Print Shop and Painting Business for many years in Ishpeming. He was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Notre Dame Alumni Association.
Surviving are five sons – Dominic (Linda) Andriacchi, John Andriacchi, Fabian (Rhonda) Andriacchi, Damian Andriacchi and Thomas Andriacchi all of Ishpeming; 4 daughters – Catherine (Dale) Saari of Negaunee, Teresa (Steve) Molnar of Grosse Isle, MI, and Dr. Rose Andriacchi and her husband Dr. Michael Swofford of Lavonia, MI, Josefa Andriacchi of Ishpeming; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 1999 and a daughter Justina also in 1999.
A Private Memorial Mass was celebrated on Wednesday June 13, 2007 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming. Inurnment took place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
