Republic- Sally D. Hall, age 72 of 8735 Hawks Dr. Republic, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011 at her home after a brief illness while under the loving care of family and Lake Superior Hospice.
Sally was born February 21, 1939 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late William and Sylvia (Uusitalo) Makinen. She was a graduate of the Republic High School, Class of 1956. Sally especially adored her grandchildren along with gardening, playing Scrabble, picking blueberries, gambling, shopping, baking delicious pasties and tarts, traveling, and listening to her son-in-law Eric sing and play his guitar.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, James C. Hall of Republic; children – Mark Laurila of Anacortes, WA; Bradley (Sue) Laurila of Carol Stream, IL; Kimberley (Rusty) Rose of Roselle, IL; Bryan (Melissa) Laurila of Iron Mountain; Shannon (Eric) Wixtrom of Republic; David Hall of Elgin, SC; and Tracy (Jim) Hofer of Negaunee; grandchildren – Nicholas, Jeremy, Emily, Benjamin, Daniel, Sylvia, Evelyn, Adam, Thomas, Amelia, Audrey, Adrianne, Erin, Kari, Lauren, Jennifer, Cassie, and Jimmy; a special aunt Irja Peterson of Petersburg, AK along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; a twin sister, Sonja V. Johnson; and a grandson Harold Wixtrom.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 until 11:00am on Friday March 18, 2011 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating the life of Sally Hall will take place at 11:00am on Friday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. James Hill to officiate. A luncheon will follow the services at the Bible Baptist Church in Ishpeming.
